Wine of Boise Vin du Bois Our Name - Vin du B ois W inery is a combination of local heritage, history, and pride. Vin, French for wine is pronounced van du, French for of Bois, pronounced Bwah, has lots of local meaning to the city of Boise, Idaho. After walking for miles along the dry, rocky sagebrush covered lava flows of southern Idaho, Captain Bonneville saw ahead of his band of explorers a lush green valley filled with trees. In his enthusiasm for seeing shade, water and trees he is reported to have shouted, "Les Bois, Les Bois, voyez Les Bois" or the trees, the trees, see the trees. Our community of Boise, has many buildings, parks, streets and schools named with variations of Les Bois. It seemed only fitting to use the French phrase for which our city is known in the name of our winery. Bonneville Point is where Captain
Bonneville stood overlooking a valley which came to be known as Boise. This is
one of the places closest to Boise where you can see the Oregon Trail ruts and
view the entire Boise Valley area. We hope you will enjoy the wines of Vin du Bois. The Wine of Boise.
